Activity Goals
Japanese as a second language at the elementary level should be an enjoyable experience and exposure providing opportunities to hear, to understand, and to reproduce standard-spoken form of Japanese.
Specific Course Objectives
Students will be exposed to some fundamental characteristics of standard-spoken Japanese.
Aural-oral skills will be emphasized.
Writing systems, hiragana and simple kanji, will be introduced.
Romanized writing systems will be minimized to avoid bad habits of pronunciation.
