How to apply to the Suzume No Gakko Program
 
 
 
 

We welcome you to apply to the Suzume No Gakko Program for 2009.    

Suzume No Gakko Program requires parent participation for our program's success.    Please review the Suzume No Gakko parent responsibilities.   Based on whether your child is a returning student or new student, follow the procedures for the drop of lottery.

Returning students

For those families who are eligible (returning students from the 2008 session and their siblings entering 1st grade or siblings of former Suzume no Gakko students entering 1st grade)

A drop-off lottery will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. (Siblings (grades 2 through 6) who were not registered in the 2008 session must register in the 2nd lottery.)  Families must be in good standing to participate in registration.   Forms will be accepted from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Wesley United Methodist Church, 566 N. 5th St., San Jose.  Forms received after 7:15 p.m. will automatically be entered in a second lottery.

Please return the following items for the LOTTERY in a plain white, legal-sized envelope:  

                  1.        Completed Registration form signed by both parents/guardian’s.

2.        Legal-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope (for the return notification)

3.        $150.00 deposit per child (refunded if the child is not enrolled –checks only).

Families will be notified of the results by mail. Notification letters will be mailed by Saturday, January 10, 2009. For those children whose names were drawn for enrollment, acceptance forms should be downloaded here, and must be returned to Suzume no Gakko, P.O. Box 5756, San Jose, CA 95150-5756, postmarked by no later than Saturday, January 17, 2009.

New students

For new students and former students who were not enrolled in the previous session:

 A second drop-off lottery will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 566 N. 5th St., San Jose, in the Fireside Room.  New families will also be eligible for this lottery.  Forms will be available to those not able to obtain one prior to this time, but must be submitted by 7:15 p.m.

This system is being utilized in order to provide all interested families and students an opportunity to participate.  Forms may be dropped off by anyone you desire during the designated time.

Please return the following items for the LOTTERY in a plain white, legal-sized envelope (use this as a checklist): 

1.        Completed Registration form signed by both parents/guardian’s.

2.        Legal-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope (for the return notification)

3.        $150.00 deposit per child (refunded if the child is not enrolled –checks only).

Missing any of the above items may cause a delay, so please check carefully!

The tuition for the 2009 session is $300.00 per student, which includes a class picture and a yearbook.  A calendar stating session dates and other important dates as well as a copy of the Board of Director’s listing  may be found at our website, www.suzumenogakko.org.   If you have questions, feel free to make inquiries via email at info@suzumenogakko.org.
